Carpet Runners UK, a Grimsby-based e-commerce business has expanded on an international-scale, following the triggering of Article 50 and National Business Awards success.

Since being named finalists of the Amazon Digital Business of the Year category at the 2016 National Business Awards, Carpet Runners UK has grown from strength to strength and is forecast to make a turnover of £3million in 2017, compared to £1.4 million in 2016; one way this will be achieved is by the recent launch of Carpet Runners USA.

Myles Shaw, Managing Director of Carpet Runners said; “If it wasn't for the National Business Awards, I wouldn't have had the drive to focus so much on the future plans of Carpet Runners; the application process was really thought-provoking and we were really challenged to suggest why our KPI and growth plans deserved the status of Amazon Digital Business of the Year; once we were shortlisted, this gave us the confidence that we were heading in the right direction.”

Myles continues; “Brexit has also been a fantastic factor for our company expansion. Rather than focusing on what we lose, I have been focusing on where we can gain. A few weeks into the referendum announcement, it was clear to us that there has been a major shift in buying behaviors;

Our EU sales (France, Germany, Spain and Italy) dropped off completely, whereas our USA orders reached a record high. I started looking into why American orders in particular were booming and realised that this was due to the decreasing value of the pound against the dollar, which made our products more affordable for the US population.”
